A Word From Pastor Click

It was with mixed emotions that I announced my resignation as Pastor of Calvary Baptist Church on Sunday. This was the most difficult thing I have done at Calvary, because the people here are very dear to my family.

Before any rumors begin, let me say that there is only one reason for my resignation: The Lord’s Leading. There is no conflict or trouble to run from. It might have been easier if there were. However, God has blessed our ministry here and given us many dear friends. We have not simply invested our time and talents at Calvary: We have invested our hearts.

A pastor friend shared his personal experience with me. After pastoring the same church for many years, the Lord impressed upon him that it was time to move on. However, the situation at the church was wonderful. He asked the Lord, “Why? Everything is great here.” So he stayed. Because he did not listen, problems began. The moral of the story is that we can not make these decisions based solely on circumstances. When we do things our own way, it is never profitable.

Because God is the One leading us, we have confidence that He will bless our future ministry as well as the future of Calvary Baptist Church. The church belongs to God. Jesus is the Good Shepherd. I have been the under-shepherd. He has the right to reassign the under-shepherd at His will. Because He loved the sheep enough to lay down His life, we know that God’s decisions will promote the welfare of His Church and His Servants.

Sunday, November 12 will be my last Sunday as the Pastor here. We would like for this to be a very special service. We will announce more details later. Until that time, I will be assisting the Advisory Council and the Pulpit Committee as needed. The next four Sundays, I will be preaching messages intended to shepherd the church into this transition. My hope is that the people of Calvary will have a spirit of expectation, anticipating the great work that God intends to do here in the coming days.

On Sunday, November 19, I will officially assume my responsibilities as the Pastor at the Fremont Baptist Temple in Fremont, Ohio. Although I find it difficult to say “good-bye” to Calvary, we look forward to the opportunity God has given us to minister to these good people. They have already begun praying for Calvary and asking God to meet the needs here in Clinton. I would ask that you pray for them and our new ministry there.

May God richly bless you, our dear friends in Christ.
